Aims and Scope
The aim of the journal Next Generation Building is to establish a professional scientific research platform that addresses challenges and implications of contemporary and future developments with respect to planning procedures, computational design integration, design systems and fabrication methodologies, assembly logistics and operational management strategies forming the design to production and operation chain of buildings. Binding socio-cultural dynamics with economically attractive, customizable and user-oriented sustainable spatial outputs, representative of 21st century information integrated emergent aesthetics is increasingly becoming the core business for today’s design discipline. The Next Generation Building journal provides an excellent platform to explore and report on such contemporary modes and directions of design thinking involving multiple themes and their combinations.
The scope of Next Generation Building is thus to address innovative, ICT embedded concepts and technologies that influence and potentially radically change/innovate current design thinking and building processes. Considering that societal diversity and dynamics as well as technological and scientific advances take place increasingly fast, while designers, architects and engineers seem to take advantage of the new opportunities at a rather slow pace, this NGB journal aims to accelerate the immersion of new insights into academic research and design practice.
